Continued Community Commitment

ConIvie Gardens Inc. founder John M. Lewellen called these his “3 C’s” that were the guiding factors behind his ongoing efforts to serve and improve his community. As a state legislator and neighborhood advocate, Lewellen listened to his constituents and neighbors who voiced a common need – safe, affordable housing for low-income elderly persons in the area.
He purchased and converted an old apartment building into a place for active senior citizens that are able to live independently. He named the complex ConIvie Gardens after his two daughters, Connie and Ivie, and ConIvie Gardens Inc. was incorporated on April 20, 1992.
Lewellen was an active part of the business for 25 years until his death in 2017.
